At the base, there are two removable side statues: Mary and Saint John, together with Jesus Christ, they form the so-called Calvary group, which is a common symbol in Continental altar crucifixes. On the backside it is branded ''DEP'', this comes from deposé in French. The scrolls, volutes, rounded feet, and decorative cartouches on the base resemble 18th-century Baroque, but executed in a late-19th-century revival style. The ornamentation is more sculptural than Gothic, with softer lines and heavier proportions.
