Beautiful extra large Gustave Doré Bible, ''De Gansche Heilige Schrift'' (''The Entire Holy Scripture''. Containing both the Old and New Testament with 100 wood engravings by Gustave Doré.
Gustave Doré is best known for his wood engravings illustrating classic literature, especially those for the Vulgate Bible. His role was normally as the designer only; at the height of his career some 40 block-cutters were employed to cut his drawings. He created over 10,000 illustrations.
The first couple of pages have been heavily loved, the actual Bible pages have been properly preserved. No (major) tears or missing pages, the biggest flaws have all been photographed. All the prints still have their tissue guards, some have turned brown over time.
