Italian Gothic Revival Crucifix
Italian Gothic Revival Crucifix
Amazing Gothic revival hand-forged wrought iron and bronze crucifix. There is a stamp on his leg with the name ''Cecchini'' the mark of the sculptor (only the corpus). Italian bronze workshops often purchased corpuses from specialist sculptors, then mounted them on custom crosses. Cecchini is an Italian surname associated with several 20th-century Italian sculptors and religious-art modelers, especially active in northern Italy (Veneto, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna). The halo disk behind Christ is decorated with gold edging, again typical of Italian studio work, not mass production.
